The Vision

I’m a huge fan of music festivals.

I have always been amazed by the artistic creations that are seen at these festivals. Having attended many festivals and EDM outdoor concerts, it has always been a dream to produce a festival. From stilt walkers, to massive stage and light setups, to bug cars, fire breathers, massive waterfalls on stages, and attendees who festively dress up any way they want, it has been a culture that I fell in love with.

I grew up in Hacienda Heights and have always felt it was lacking the presence of live music and popular music performance opportunities for the youth. I started Opus Music School in 2014, and have seen talented music students develop into great musicians, so I wanted to provide a platform for these students to shine. The concept of Opus Music Festival was started while in quarantine to provide both a grand re-opening celebration of Opus Music School after having been closed for in-person lessons for 14 months, and to give our youth students an opportunity to feel what it’s like to perform on an outdoor stage, similar to those unforgettable moments I have experienced at music festivals.

A common theme among music festival goers is the concept of “PLUR” - peace, love, unity, and respect. No matter who you meet at a festival, respect them and show them love. People are free to be whoever they want, look however they want, dance as they please, and be united by the universal language of music.

Some of the best memories in my life have been from music festivals. I would love for the students of Opus to also experience the magic and memories of being a headliner or performer at a real outdoor music festival.

2021 was our inaugural Opus Music Festival, and although it was still in the middle of a pandemic, we had an amazing attendance of 300 people at our 1st ever festival. Our festival team is aiming to make the 2022 festival bigger and better, and we are excited for what is in store. Stay tuned…
